NaNoWriMo ...

Mon Nov 2, 2009, 2:44 PM
I'm thinking I'm gonna sorta unofficially enter NaNoWriMo, which, for those who don't know, is National Novel Writing Month. That month is November.

I say unofficially because I'll probably write scenes from more than one novel/series. I do hope to get 50,000 words at least. It would be nice if I could get at least 50,000 words toward one novel! Then I could officially enter!

Word count by day:

Nov. 1: 3,575 words (This was for book three of a sci-fi series, written to get the scene out of my head. I also, a week or two ago, wrote a chapter in book two, as well as another chapter in book three, but that doesn't count.)
Nov. 2-3: 2,726 words (Book 1, chapter 1 of sci-fi series)
Nov. 4: 3,225 words (Book 1, chapter 2, first part)
Nov. 5: 1,967 words (Book 1, chapter 2, last part) and ...
2,851 words (Book 1, chapter 3, first part)
Nov. 6: 2,330 words (Book 1, chapter 3, last part)
Nov. 7: 1,866 words (Book 1, chapter 4, first part)
Nov. 8: 1,561 words (Book 1, chapter 4, last part)
Nov. 9: 565 words (Book 1, chapter 5, first part)
Nov. 11: 1,012 words (Book 1, chapter 5, middle part)
Nov. 13: 3,537 words (Book 1, chapter 5, last part)
Nov. 16: 1,024 words (Book 1, chapter 6, first part)
Nov. 23: 287 words (Book 1, chapter 6, middle part)
Nov. 26: 3,719 words (Book 1, chapter 6, last part)

MORE: TO BE ANNOUNCED! Hopefully.

Interesting facts: I've also drawn some costume designs/character designs for this series. I don't think I'm submitting them here. I'm generally very private about this kind of stuff. I just wrote this to say that I have been working on artworks lately, even though I haven't been submitting them.

Standard journal stuff below ...

MY IDEAS, IDEAS ... for stuff I'd like to draw:
- Star Trek
- Original characters
- Victorian-inspired stuff; and yes, probably more Barker and Llewelyn fanart
- Symbolistic stuff, kinda like "LoveAndDeath"
- Beauty and the Beast stuff (NOT disney, more gothic or fantasy)
- ???????

ART TRADE? Drop me a note and I'll see what I can do. I'd also like to add that my rules have changed since I wrote them years ago, because I have developed a new style. So, for instance, I can do backgrounds, provided I can find a suitable reference. I also do like doing stuff in my most recent "Edward Gorey-ish" style, evidenced in my past 25 or so artworks.

Library feature! Plus EMHE ...

Thank you to :iconfooledsweetness: for the article feature seen here: [link]

Another interesting thing ... ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" came to our area. Of course, I visited the site. I even wrote a few articles for the newspaper I work at. The actual episode is supposed to air in either December 2009 or January 2010. The house (it's on a farm) will be white with yellow trim, and apparently David Duchovny will also be included in the episode doing a feature on organic farming or something like that.

(Also ... I still have to draw that 10,000 pageview prize.)

Thank you to :iconnorthangel27: for the article feature on Severus Snape fanartists (yours truly included) seen here: [link] I'm sure getting artistic recognition this year. Yowza! Always helpful when I feel like my skills are ... bleah.

I still have to draw that 10,000 pageview prize. I think it might have to wait until I get some of this Star Trek stuff out of my system ...

Thank you to :icontankgirl3366: for the article feature, "Always travel in Pairs," seen here: [link] Featured is one of my Barker and Llewelyn fanarts! Again, I am deeply honored by this!

Really want to do more Star Trek art, but getting distractions. Also have to remember my 10,000 pageview prize (Marak and Kate drawing). Ugh! I need inspiration!

Star Trek

Thu May 28, 2009, 12:20 PM
Okay, I'm gonna admit it: I'm a bit of a Trekkie.

After the most recent movie/re-visioning, I've now been inspired to write some "Star Trek" fanfiction and (hopefully) draw "Star Trek" art.

Ideas:
- FANART: Kirk/Spock/McCoy triptych ... though I'm not a Kirk fan, and generally don't draw "pretty" boys, drawing the three in a single image intrigues me. Plus I like the whole Will/Mind/Emotion idea.
- FANART: Sarek and Amanda. My fav Vulcan/Human couple.
- FANART: Just Sarek. Both Ben Cross and Mark Lenard have such noble faces that I'd like to draw.
- FANART: Just Spock. Preferably Leonard Nimoy's spock.
- FANFICTION: Originally I had come up with an idea in which Sarek and Spock go back in time to more modern-day times (albeit after the Eugenics Wars) in search of something to help the future of the Vulcan race, and have wacky adventures with humans (and an unexpected Vulcan) along the way. But it seemed too inappropriate after the events of the recent movie, plus a similar plot has been done far better in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home." My final plot seems to be something like this: While on a mission to locate the few Vulcan survivors that managed to escape their planet's destruction on small ships, the crew of the Enterprise come across a damaged Vulcan probe that provides an unexpected link to the past. (I'm not sure if I'm going to write this, as it will be a long one, and I have other long fanfics I really should finish before it.)

I've already submitted a short "Star Trek" fanfic to the site, though for some reason when I submitted it to my regular gallery the preview image I made only showed up if someone clicked on the story, not *instead* of the plain literature tag. (Which kind of made the "click here" on the preview image not workable.) I fixed this by submitting to scraps. Not what I wanted to do, but ... at least it works the way it is intended there.

ALSO: On the "to do" list: 10,000 pageview prize (Marak and Kate drawing).
